Hospital safety lookup
Federal overall star ratings for hospitals in US cities we cover, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Care Compare.
Hospital data is added city by city as lists are published.
Reading a star rating
CMS gives most US hospitals an overall rating from one to five stars, built from measures of mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience and timely care. A low rating does not prove that any patient was harmed by negligence, and a high one does not rule it out. Canadian hospitals are not rated this way.
