Malpractice Center is free to use. Law firms pay for it through advertising, and we label every paid spot. Here's every way we make money.
How we make money
| Source | What it is | How it's labeled |
|---|---|---|
| Featured placements | A law firm pays a flat fee for the first spot on lists in its market | Marked Featured; the label explains that featured firms are our partners |
| Advertising | Other ads on content pages | Marked as advertising |
Our featured partner in Canada
Our featured partner, Diamond & Diamond, pays to appear first on lists in its market, labeled Featured, and every other position comes from our scoring.
Its market is Canada. Jeremy Syrtash, who leads the firm's medical malpractice litigation practice, is item 1 on our Canadian lists, with that disclosure in one line under his card. If Diamond & Diamond also earned a scored spot on a list, we show it once, in the featured spot. When someone in Canada uses our case review and agrees to be contacted, the request goes to Diamond & Diamond. The firm has no say in how other firms are scored or in what we write.
What payment doesn't buy
- A better score for any firm
- The removal of a review, result or community comment we've linked
- Approval of, or edits to, what we write
- A look at a list before it's published
No referral fees
We're paid flat fees for advertising. We don't take a fee for any case, referral or signed client, and we're not a lawyer referral service.
Lawyer advertising
Featured cards are advertising for the law firms involved. Some states require lawyer advertising to carry specific notices; ours are on the disclaimer page.
