Medical malpractice filing deadline calculator
Estimate the last day to file a medical malpractice claim from the date of the treatment, when you found out, and where it happened.
Your estimate appears here
Choose where the care happened and enter the date of the treatment.
How the estimate works
We read the filing period, when it starts counting and any outer limit from our law guide for the state or province, then count from the dates you enter. When a place counts from discovery and you give a discovery date, we count from that; otherwise from the treatment. If an outer limit ends sooner, it wins.
Real deadlines have exceptions this tool cannot see: claims against government hospitals, concealed errors, notice rules and the rules for children. Treat the date as a warning, not a promise, and see the rules on your state or province page.
